Our WelcomeDay was a huge success!

We had a great turnout, with impressive gender diversity & lots of people from other faculties and institutions. We are excited about the increased visibility of WoBio and thankful for the support by all who attended, incl our wonderful speakers! You can find some impressions here!

Ana María Jaramillo and Samuel Martin-Gutierrez from the Complexity Science Hub Vienna gave a fantastic talk on their in-depth analyses highlighting the existence, complexity and pervasiveness of gender gaps and citation bias in biology & other STEM fields.

Charlotte Zajc from BOKU Vienna delivered a nice and clear overview of the different gender inequities and biases in academia and how they partly reflect gender gaps on a larger societal scale. Progress has been made but more active efforts are needed to revert the inequality.
